Developing ASP.NET 4.5 MVC Web Applications
I am a little bit confused because in lots of Microsoft materials(currently online) this exam name refers to different MVC versions.
On this forum this is 4.5 ver.
On the MCSD site this is 4 ver. http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/exam-70-486.aspx
And on the exam site it is told that technology is VS 2013 and MVC 5.1
So my question is what the version is ? Where is the latest and most up to date preparation requirements for this exam ? Any supplement ?
If this is MVC 5 is the Exam Reff Book from MS learning updated because I can find only MVC 4 version ? http://www.amazon.com/Exam-Ref-70-486-Developing-Applications/dp/0735677220
Piotr, first of all, the forum title is referencing ASP.NET 4.5, the core of ASP.NET MVC. From there, exam 70-486 was originally based on ASP.NET MVC 4 and Visual Studio 2012, but now, the exam is based on Visual Studio 2013 and ASP.NET MVC 5/5.1.
Given all of that and that the bulk of the reference/training materials are still based on ASP.NET MVC 4/Visual Studio 2012, the overall concepts of ASP.NET MVC should be the main focus for the exam. Start using ASP.NET MVC 5.x for your web app development, noting what is new (and looking at the What's New information provided; see http://www.asp.net for more info). Ultimately, experience with the technology will be better for preparing for this exam than using books. The books will get you started, but you need to go further to gave a good understanding of ASP.NET MVC.

Thank you very much Christopher.
So basically this is a MVC 5 exam. I hope the title on certification will be referencing MVC 5 to be more accurate and up to date rather than older MVC 4 version.
Thank you again!
Piotr, the certification itself is MCSD: Web Applications, so there wouldn't be any reference to the specific technologies associated with the certification. Additionally, I believe that the purpose for recertification along with updating the exams as the newer versions are made available is move away from certifications based on a specific version of a product. Thus, the Web Apps MCSD is currently based on ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Web API, WCF, Windows Azure, etc. without regard to their versions. In other words, the expectation is that as a certified Microsoft web developer, you will maintain a knowledge of these technologies continually, learning the newer versions as they become available. Thus, your certification isn't for MVC 5; it's for MVC.
Here is the list of what's new in
And now....MVC 5.2!!
Luckily not too much on each one, but definitely worth being aware of!
