Two weeks ago, I started playing around with AppMakr. A great tool that makes it super easy to create (simple) apps, so easy that even an amateur developer like I can now create apps. All you need is a good idea.
So I started building a Born to Learn Reader. What a rush! (I've included some screenshots in slides I inserted using Office Web Apps:-)) Building it took only 30 minutes and you can copy your work so that it works on Windows Phone, Droid and iPhone. The app is out on Droid right now: just go to Android Market and look for 'Born to Learn' (a big thank you to the first 70 of you who downloaded the early version!). Alas, I ran into a technical glitch with the Windows Phone version - after a sudden stop the resuming function does not work properly. While that is being worked on, I decided to try another great tool called Follow My Feed. I personally really like Follow my Feed's user interface, however, the current version allows you to use only one RSS feed where AppMakr allows you to add as many as you like.
Well, it's early days and I'm sure these tools will add a lot more features soon. I just want to share my excitement and I really encourage you to give this a try. Of course there are wonderful, skilled developers out there who create astonishing apps. But you can do this too, give it a try and you'll be amazed!
to be continued!
You may want to check out apps I created using followmyfeed.net. The Exchange Team Blog, Mr. Proactive and OpsVault Mobile. They all are available from Windows Phone marketplace. While it doesn't contain multiple rss feeds, for the apps I created, I didn't need to combine multiple sources so it worked out great and has more feature than appmakr when it comes to individual feeds.
Thanks Bhargav, I checked them out and they look GREAT! Nice work :-)
by the way Bhargav, how did you create those screenshots, i could not find the feature in followmyfeed that does that?
And it's out, both the Windows Phone and Droid editions are now available for download, enjoy Born to Learn on your phones:)
