Hello new MVA course experience! Goodbye grey bars of confusion!

Michael Aldridge

Dear MVA learners! On the heels of hitting over 1,000,000 learners who visited just last month, today we unveiled a totally new way for you to experience your MVA learning!

Over the past year many of you told us:

"Your course player was hard to use!"

"Clumsy, cumbersome!"

"I didn't know where to start when I landed on a course."

"Juggling different pages and video players was confusing!"

This new player experience, using HTML5, is designed to help make it easier to get you to the courses you are interested in and allow you to discover and navigate all within a single page.

Hopefully these new changes provide you a clearer and cleaner way to learn, engage and achieve your personal learning goals.

Just like successful technologists never stop learning, and great technology never stops evolving, we in the MVA team will continue to learn from you, evolve, and strive to create the best place for you to learn online.

This is the first step of many refinements to this new MVA experience we will iterate on over the next few months. So there is more to come next month!

Keep the feedback coming; thanks for helping to make us better!

There are problems with the javascript functions... I mean, when I click a lesson, it doesn't do anything

@Francisco - Sorry for the bug. Just to clarify, were you already signed in to MVA when you got this issue? If you were not signed in ensure you sign-in.

    Thank you for better player.

But I prefer to have a table of content separately. Now, when I want to see and review the course content, it starts to play it.

It is not good to play a video automatically. we should decide whether we want to play or something else.

new design waste my bandwidth and my time.

    please modify it

I prefer to have a table of content separately. Now, when I want to see and review the course content, it starts to play it. It also starts playing at module one, even though I am on a later module. Also I can not download the video, watching it online  sometimes it stops and starts, whereas, the video plays great in the VLC player.

I am doing the Java Fundamentals course.

Hesam and MVA Student, thanks for that feedback! Will be very helpful for us as we work out what's next.

Visually appealing but hate the autoplay - please let me choose when to start/stop. The content menu/index automatically contracts when I expand another section. How about letting me choose what to expand and contract on my own. No way to see the index  of all the content at once. A bit frustrating.

    Auto play is annoying, always.

Thanks, MVAnoob and lc3games! We are listening.

We are working to remove auto play. Thanks to all of you for your feedback!

Autoplay causes the course to be added to your transcript even if you didn't want it on there. If we can somehow review the content of a course prior to it being added to our transcript would be nice. I'm actually using the transcript as a means of "continuing  education" with my current employer.

Thanks for the feedback, luischinea. I can see how it would be a real pain to have to go manually delete courses from your dashboard every time you sample one. Working with learning plans would be one approach for you (you could control what shows on the  plan) and as Michael said above, we will be removing the auto play.
