Hi Guy's/Gal's
Just wanted some clarification... Will there be a MCAS/MCAP track for Office 2010 & Windows 7 or will it revert back to MOS/MOUS? One of my friends who is a MCT & MCAS Instructor went to a meeting at MS and there was talk about the MCAS track being scrapped (like the MCAP).

Glad to hear that rolling our MCAS instructor program into the MCT program was a good thing!
We are in the midst of planning our Office 2010 cert line up, and objective domains are in development. Office 2010 certs will actually be branded MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist), and we are going to rebrand MCAS for Office 2007 back to MOS as well - meaning whatever version of Office you certify in, it's all MOS. This will all happen approximately June 1. Stay tuned for more information coming soon and let me know if you have questions.
I'm 100% certain there will be a Office 2010 track of certs but I'm not certain whether I can say anything about MCAS/MOS. I'll check with our product manager and see if I can post something about this.
MCAS certification was rolled into MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer) status last year. This was a huge leap forward for us. The question will be whether or not they roll Windows 7 into the Office 2010 cert, like they did with Vista and Office 2007.
I'm sure MOUS/MOS is dead forever.
Thanks for that, it's a pity that it'll all be rebranded back to MOS. For those of us who received the MCAS credential, will that automatically be converted to MOS or will it stay MCAS?
We will actually go into the certification system and update everyone's credential to MOS. We'll also send out notifications of the change with a link to go in and retrieve an updated digital certificate with the new logo.
*Shudder*
Not sure if I like to have MOS or MOUS next to my Professional certs :(
I would prefer to keep the MCAS credential.
On a side note/question, why? I mean on the Pro side, MS left the MCSA/MCSE route and started the MCITP route. The same thing happened to the MOUS/MOS (now the MCAS), why the u-turn and revert back? It seems like a backwards step.
Which applications will make part of the line up?
According to earlier publications, the "set" would contain Word, Excel, Ppt, Outlook, One Note and Visio. Is this still correct?
Does the rebranding also mean that -like for the MOS 2003 certs- expert levels will be re-introduced? For MCAS this wasn't the case since MCAP certification was announced but never became available.
I also think it's a pity that MCAS will be rebranded to MOS. Very confusing, besides I agree with Ken: Lots of "pro"- certificates have been rebranded, MOS became MCAS. Now MCAS will be turned back.
I hope not that End Users aka "Information Workers" aren't considered to be "professional" enough?
@ Ken The return to MOS is all about branding. It's incredibly hard to continue the MCAS brand when so many people knew what MOS was. MOS also has the word Office in the cert title which allowed for better recognition of the certification.
@ Paul Wendy was nice enough to provide us with a sneak preview of the MOS Office 2010 exams. These are still tentative as they have not been finalized so please be aware they may change.

77-886: SharePoint 2010
77-178: Microsoft Project 2010, Managing Projects
Word and Excel will likely be launched first in the summer. Personally, my new goal is to clear all of these exams :) I was a Office 2007 Master :) - but this time I'm not so sure about SharePoint and Project...hmmm...
Thanks for the update, however "branding"... If that's the case why didn't the MCITP/MCTS revert back to the MCP/MCSA/MCSE with the designations? The new professional track has been out of two years now (approx) and there are still employers/recruitment agencies that still don't know about them - in fact there are still alot of MS certified professional that are still asking questions today...
However that aside... Thanks for the update re the Office 2010 exams/certs... I've already been informed of two of the beta's so already made my mind up to go for them irrespective of what they are called :)
Yes all MCAS will converted to MOS and you can donwload the new logo.
