Hello! I am an MCT/MCAS MI. I own a training company and also do curriculum development. I am not a Microsoft Certified Learning Solutions Provider. I am interested in getting access to the MOS objectives for all levels of each exam for development purposes. I’ve been a MOUS/MOS/MCAS MI for many years and think I know roughly what the exams will focus on but I can’t be sure. Since I am writing both traditional curriculum and CBT content for these apps that need to be published, I want to be sure we are mapping to all of the objectives. I know timing is everything and everyone is working on projects such as these trying to get them out in a timely manner. I understand the development process and can wait for the exams themselves to be available but not much longer for the objectives to be available without being far behind in development and release. I know you can relate to that. J Can you please tell me how to obtain a copy of the exam objectives for each app and certification level and/or when the objectives will be released to the public for each? Right now we only have the Excel and Word objectives for the basic level. I’m interested in Word Expert, Excel Expert, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated since it’s time consuming and expensive to have to go back and rewrite curriculum or republish CBTs if we miss something initially before seeing the actual objectives. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
On a different but related note, will there ever be any certification for OneNote, InfoPath, Visio, SharePoint Workspaces or Publisher? I know they aren’t the mainstream apps. I also know “Will there ever be…” seems like a phrase requiring commitment so maybe I should ask, “To the best of your knowledge will there ever be…”? J I’m just curious if there is any talk at all about certification for any of those apps.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration! -Erin A. Olsen
Hi Erin,
First, it's great to know there are MCTs out there that have followed MOS in all its incarnations. :) Thanks for sticking with the program!
For exam objectives, I have all of the finalized versions in Word doc format for the following exams:
- Word core
- Excel core
- PowerPoint
- Outlook
- Access
- Word Expert
- Excel Expert
The Word and Excel core level exam objectives are now live and posted as part of the exam detail pages that you can find here (learning.microsoft.com/.../catalog.aspx).
I can also provide all of the final objectives to you if you email me at wendyj@microsoft.com.
For your other question... we've had some conversation about OneNote and SharePoint Workspace in particular. So far, we haven't seen enough demand to warrant developing these exams. There's always the potential that we 'could' develop MOS exams for these products down the road and I won't close the door on the opportunity 100%. :) I think it possible as demand and use increases for these products, we may at some future point include these products. We'll have to wait and see.
Thanks again!
Wendy
The requirements / objectives / skills measured have now gone live.
Wendy's link to a search page is probably the easiest way to find them all:

I've also blogged links to each of the individual exams' pages:
(easier to open into multiple tabs from here as they are real links, not javascript postbacks)

Hope this helps.
