Has anyone installed the latest MeasureUp practice test engine and test and have received this error?
An unanticipated error has occured in the application.Display.
[LocalWare][339] Component 'HotArea.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.
I ordinarily wouldn't post this here, as I have already emailed there support three times and left voice mail about the issue with their support people. I haven't even recieved an acknowledgement from them. This error has occured for me on two differen machines both are Windows 7 64 bit.
If anyone has encountered this issue please let me know.
Thanks.
yes, i have the exact same problem...(on a windows 7 32 bit)
any luck solving this?
No. I searched for HotArea.ocx on my computer. It just doesn't exist. Apparently they forgot to include this file in the install program. I can find a HotArea.js, but not the .ocx file.
I'm going to try again to get their support people on the line. I'm afraid I'll just be stuck in on-hold purgatory.
yes, im afraid so too.
I sendt them an email yesterday with no replies as of yet :(
ive tried reinstalling everything, but to no avail. and the check for updates button also crashes the measureup app.
I had the same problem running measureup test on a windows 7 32 bit machine today.
I solved the problem by going typing this at the command line and hitting enter
regsvr32 /u Hotarea.ocx
followed by
regsvr32 Hotarea.ocx
and hitting enter
I got error error 0x8004005 when I tried to run above commands without admin rights.
When I ran it with admin rights<right click on cmd->run as administrator>, it ran without any problems.
I am able to run the Measureup test now. Hopefully it will work for you too.
hey, that solved the problem!!! Appreciate it :)
I tried that, but it couldn't find HotArea.ocx. Do I need to provide the path to HotArea.ocx when I register it?
For Windows 7 64 bit users:
I found HotArea.ocx in C:\Windows\SysWOW64. I then opened up the command prompt with admin privileges (ran as Administrator) , eventhough my default account has local admin. I ran regsvr32 HotArea.ocx from the command prompt.
Measureup now Runs!!!!
Thanks all for the feedback!
Fixed my problem. Thanks very much!
I had to run the console as an admin (right-click the icon for the DOS prompt from the start menu, select "run as administrator").
This worked great!!! thanks man!!
Thanks to helpful developers, this forum and Google I saved time, trouble and grief of trying to contact MeasureUp support!!!
This was fixed in 3 min after reading this post... :0)
