Help! My VM Windows Vista Product Activation has expired.

Answered (Verified) This question is answered

I'm using 6461A-LON-DEV-01 to study Exam 70-503 Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 - Windows Communications Foundaton.  (I know, I'm behind the times, but bare with me.)

It has been going swimmingly.

But my Windows Activation notification has suddenly appeared.  Maybe I've been doing this course for 3 months, I can't remember.  I don't want to just reset it back, as I'm mid-way through some labs.  Is there a way to activate my VM Windows Vista?

  • James,

You can rearm the activation and get another 30 days by doing the following:

Log on as an administrator | open a command prompt | type slmgr.vbs -rearm

You can only reset the activation timer 3 times and the original VM has probably done it once.  After that you will have to reset the VM.  You could always copy your lab files off to removable media and then reset the VM and restore the files
