Thanks Matthew.
Help... how do I post jobs here anymore??
sales86748: Help... how do I post jobs here anymore??
Hi all,
By default, only MCTs have access to any resources on the MCT Community Portal site on Born to Learn, including the jobs forum. Learning Partner representatives can request access to this forum by taking the following steps:
Microsoft Learning will then grant permissions for this Live ID to access the Jobs forum and will respond via email informing the Learning Partner representative that they can now access the forum. This email also includes information on how to change your display name to be your real name, which is required for posting jobs.
MCTs are encouraged to share this information with the Learning Partners with whom they work. Although this information was posted on the MCT private newsgroups for the month leading up to their retirement, not all Learning Partners may have seen the notice.

I jst clicked the link above and got "Group not found" and no MCT tab at the top of the page.

Are you logged on to Born to Learn using the same Windows Live ID you use to access other MCT web sites?
Hi Mark,
I haven't heard back from you on this issue, nor have I seen additional activity on the site. I have confirmed that you have access to the MCT portion of Born to Learn. If you could please re-test and let us know what you find, it would be very much appreciated.
Borntolearn does not show MCT tab. Direct link causes "Group not found" message. A complaint to mctcollab@microsoft.com left unanswered. My transcript indicates MCT status as current. Provided markrosenberg03 suffers from the same something goes wrong.

Hi Mikhail,
Your email was received on a national holiday in the US; we responded before the end of the next day.I apologize for any delay, but (as discussed via email) the RSC has dedicated personnel to respond to issues like this one.
And to close the loop on Mark's earlier problem, Mark has followed up with us last week via email to confirm that he could successfully access the site.
The problem was solved by reassociation MC ID with LiveID. Special thanks to Matthew Roche for assistance. He hastened amending greatly.
I seem to have this problem now, am getting the Group Not Found message. I did have access prior to today.

OK, very annoying. I'm now getting "Group not found" as well when I go to the MCT tab on Born to Learn.
Matthew, it's been a while since this has happened to me. Yesterday, for the first time in a long time, I logged into the new Courseware library site. I first signed in using my dfrankly@mail.aum.edu liveID and found I wasn't affiliated with my CPLS. So I then looged on as my dfranklyn@aum.edu liveID, as that account is the partmner-side admin, and associated my dfrankly liveID as a trainer. Then I uploaded our course schedule for the rest of the year.
It seems like the only other time I lost my MCT creds on BTL I was also in Courseware Library.
Coincidence?

The above was posted with my dfranklyn@aum.edu liveID.
This is posted with dfrankly@mail.aum.edu
Just so everyone understands, if you are an MCT, and also administer your CPLS portal into Microsoft, you have to have two liveIDs. One to admin, the other to train. Only the admin side can buy courseware; only the trainer side can download MCT use only free content.

Hi All,
Just as a quick heads-up, it appears that we are having some problems with our MCT authentication. We have not yet identified the root cause, but we're working with the team that manages the certification system to get to the bottom of things.
For clarity, this certification system is the software that says "who is an MCP" and "who is an MCT" and "who has what certifications" and which is used by Born to Learn to grant or deny access to the MCT-only site at borntolearn.mslearn.net/.../default.aspx. Right now we're seeing reports from MCTs who used to have access, but who now cannot get into the MCT site on Born to Learn, even though they can access other MCP-only and MCT-only web sites. We've had 3 or 4 MCTs contact us directly, but based on the activity here this morning, it looks like there may be more.
If you are affected by this problem, please take the following steps.
1. Contact your RSC via email to report the problem, and include the following information
a. Your MCP ID
b. The email address of your Windows Live ID associated with your MCT benefits
c. The problem behavior you're observing (see the sample below for a template*)
2. When you receive a response from the RSC, please forward that email to me at maroche at microsoft dot com, so I can escalate to the support teams involved.
It is vital that anyone who is experiencing this problem contact the RSC first and not just contact me directly. Contacting the RSC will create a ticket in our support system, and the email response you receive will include that ticket number. When you then send this on to me, I can use that number to escalate to the teams working on this system.
To set expectations appropriately, it may take a day or more to resolve the problem you're seeing. The resolution that has worked for previous reports has involved members of two different teams, and (the last I checked - it's still early in Redmond, so I may not be 100% up to date) wasn't completely automated.
Thanks for your patience, and for your willingness to follow the steps above. With the information we gain through your problem reports we hope to more quickly identify the root cause of this problem and implement an overarching solution.
P.S. Please understand that I will not be active on this forum throughout the day today. I am in back-to-back meetings from 12:00 PM EDT through the end of the day, at which point I will be offline for personal commitments. Any emails I receive before 5:45 EDT today will be escalated immediately; any emails received after this will be escalated as my availability permits.
* Here is a template for what your problem report might look like. Please review the details, and if this applies to the problem behavior you're seeing, feel free to copy it and use it. I've highlighted in yellow those places where you will need to enter your own information. And if your problem details differ, please edit the template to reflect the actual problem behavior you are observing.
Hi MCT Support,
I am an MCT, with the following program details:
I am contacting you today because I can no longer access the MCT site on Born to Learn at http://borntolearn.mslearn.net/mct/default.aspx. When I attempt to visit this site, I log in with my Windows Live ID, and receive a "group not found" message, which indicates that the Born to Learn site does not recognize me as an MCT.
Please note that I can use this Windows Live ID to successfully access the MCT private site and other MCT-only web sites, including the MCT Electronic Courseware Download Center. Please also note that I have previously used this Windows Live ID to access the MCT site on Born to Learn; the problem behavior I am seeing today is new.
Thanks in advance for your assistance. I look forward to a timely resolution of this problem.

Me too. RSC notified by email (form)
Thanks Adam - I'll look forward to your email.

Hi Matthew,
I got this yesterday: "Acknowledgement of your email to the Microsoft Certified Trainer Program (KMM21668438V83135L0KM)".
so I'm assuming you all are working it.
I hope it's resolved soon; I've got MCT Summit NA items to post!

Hey Dave,
Can I ask you to please forward that acknowledgment to me, as requested?
You mean I didn't follow directions? Wow! That's a first,,,,
Mail on its way!

Just be aware. I did the reassociation, That removed the MCT tab. The RSC asked for the screen shots. You might want to include screen shots showing NO MCT TAB and Groups not found page with the orginal request. (It will save a couple days at this point)

Just as a heads-up, it looks like there are multiple overlapping issues related to this problem. We're actively working on a resolution but at this point do not have an ETA to share. Please do not misinterpret silence as a lack of progress - it's likely just the opposite.
Also, as a reminder, the reason I have asked (as some people have done, and others have not) for affected MCTs to contact the RSC and then to email the RSC confirmation (complete with ticket number) to me, is so that i can then escalate the specific case to the engineers working on the underlying problem. If you have contacted the RSC and have not sent that email to me, then you're not taking advantage of the ongoing effort. Until the back-end work is done, and we have both a root cause identified, and steps to share with the RSC, the RSC team will not be able to resolve the problem symptoms for you. If you do follow my request and share with me the RSC email response, then your information can both help us validate our understanding of the underlying problem, and you're more likely to have your problem resolved sooner.
Thanks again for your patience...
OK, Just FYI,
I sent request to RSC
RSC sent back (2 days) asking for screen shots (standard reply)
I sent back screen shots showing No MCT tab and Groups not found.
The screen shots were embedded and not an attachment per se, the file size was 474K.
Just got email back, saying:
Hello Craig,
Thank you for your e-mail with the requested information.
We understand the importance of this matter.
We received your attachment, however, the file you sent was too large and was truncated. This prevented us from viewing your attachment properly.
Please try the following suggestions to reduce the size:
-Compress the file
-Compress the image
-Reduce image resolution
-Do not use color
I am not sure as how to send a smaller screen shot. I just sent them another email stating this and referenced this public thread.
Saga continues
In my case (May 31, 2011) the problem was solved by Matthew Roche without my calling to RSC and getting any tickets. DO MCTs need RSC? There must be another door for smart users ;-)

Yes, we do need RSCs. Individual team members do not scale. In this specific context I have gotten involved personally because the underlying problem is beyond the scope of the RSCs to tackle on their own, but the RSCs have been involved in every escalation and resolution, even if this is not visible to everyone.

Hi Craig,
Just as an FYI, I have yet to receive an email from you. Please take a moment to read my posts earlier. Please help us help you.
Matthew, getting bounce back on the emails that I have sent you. Don't want to publlish here the address you sent me. Can you send to craig.brown@globalknowledge.com.
Craig Brown: Matthew, getting bounce back on the emails that I have sent you. Don't want to publlish here the address you sent me. Can you send to craig.brown@globalknowledge.com.
Hey Craig,
I've sent you an email from my MS account. I have also successfully received emails from other MCTs on this thread (at the email address I posted above) and have other emails from you (at this GK address) in my MS inbox, so I'm not sure what the problem is with this mail today...
Update for all:
The RSCs now have complete instructions on how to handle this problem. We've identified the root cause (although the root cause is not yet resolved) and the RSCs have a well-documented path to resolve the symptoms.
Because of this it is no longer necessary to escalate to me.
When you contact the RSCs (ideally using the template I shared above - this has all of the information they need) they now have the resources they need to resolve the problem. It will involve multiple teams working together for each request, so it may take a day or so, but all of the MCTs who have contacted me as requested above have gone through this process and now have access to the system.
Thanks for your patience!
Group Not Found
Is it dead?
Hm, strange. The "MCT" tab disappeared on me. I'm still an MCT, though - logging in to the courseware download center with the same ID works. What's up??
RegardsFerminBring back NNTP. Or if you won't, switch to SMTP.MC*.*, details see Transcript: 658545, Code "ExamsAreFun".
OK, now I'm getting "Group Not Found" again.
This is the FOURTH time this has happened to me in all the years I've been posting here.
It is just about not worth fixing this time.
Dave Franklyn, Auburn University
Now I no longet get the "Group Not Found" because my MCT tab is gone!!!!!
This is getting ridicolous.
Oh well, stuff happens...

Harumph, Claudia! Are you being rude to me, or did you forget the smiley?! (I am pissed about this, and I mean that in the 'Mercan sense of the word!)
anyway, everyone needs to send the email to mct@microsoft.com as follows:
_________________________________________________________________
◦MCID: 123456789
◦Windows Live ID: your@email.address.here

I've done so, ONCE AGAIN>>>>>grrrr...
Not sure if I can be bothered to send the mail. This thing is seriously broken.
Hi MCTs! I'm aware of the issue and working on it. Thanks!
Multi-thanks, Veronica!!!!
Quick update: We're investigating issue with access to MS cert database.
Aw, Davie-kins! Don't be angry with me. I mean you nuthin' but LUV!!!! But this MCT tab-thing going south happens so frequently that I can't muster the energy to be riled or surprized about it any more. But, by all means, you go right on ahead and be pissed about this situation...
OK, my MCT tab is back. The mct@microsoft.com people emailed me back, wanting a screen shot of my problem! That is SO stupid, frankly. How is a screen shot of something NOT there supposed to help them? Asking for this kind of information makes me think they do not have a clue as to what I am talking about, and upthread, back in June, Matthew said they all now had a standard proceedure to fix the issue. That is why I posted Matthew's generic email yesterday, as this was supposed to trigger them to know exactly what to do.
I guess after 6 months ALL those people at the MCT help desk left for better jobs!
To Veronica: I think whatever you did fixed it, as BEFORE I could send a screen shot of my missing MCT tab to the mct@microsoft.com folks I checked out Born to Learn and lo and behold it was back.
Now, Veronica, why is it that after a huge amount of effort on Matthew Roche's part earlier this year when he worked a solution with these help desk people now they've forgotten it?!?! But beyond this, why does it even happen at all? This is the fourth time it has happened to me. No reason; it just does. If I was a paying customer of Microsoft (and to an exptent I am) I would be very concerned about my future relationship with them. Something is flawed on BtL, and needs a permanent fix.
Dave Franklyn, MCT/MVP, Auburn University
Hi Dave,
Glad the MCT forum is back for you. Looks like it's still not working correctly for some people so I'm still following up. FWIW, the issue wasn't on B2L's end this time.
I will ask Matthew Roche about the history of this issue. The MCT private forum is important to us, too. Thanks for your patience.
