The script called for three main characters, a female and male adolescent and also a “magical” character of some sort. The magical character needed to be part of the everyday Data center so I suggested a “stress” ball that could come to life in a crisis. Since the style direction was Manga, I researched the characters by looking at Japanese anime. Below are studies of the characters’ development.
Squishy was an inanimate object coming to life and didn’t require much revision. Below shows how Squishy wakes up after being squeezed.
While I totally enjoyed the entire process here are a few of my most favorite scenes.
