My certification journey has been less than normal. I'm trying to squeeze in an exam before I go (but I don't like my chances). However I can offer five TopTips that I've picked up through my Career Factor process as an unemployed person (as well as over my years as an IT Pro)... Have a good support structure. It's vital to have people...

Still waiting on that news I'm so desperate to tell you. Very, very soon (it's killing me, trust me). It all's flooded in this week - some eBooks, practice exams and exam vouchers. That last one is going to dog me, but I absolutely plan to have at least 2 exams done before I get to Tech Ed. I know it's down from my initial plan, but...

That's not anyone's fault (I'm just one guy), just a frustration from being on the other side of the world and...

All the bravado of a week ago has come crashing down. Not because I seemed to have stirred up a small hornet's nest of opinion either. It's simply that my first tool of choice is a little to hard to navigate through. I had the best intentions. After working out what certifications I wanted to achieve (and yes, it is aggressive, and I stand by...

It’s been excellent to start the conversation with people about what I should be studying. The variety of MCITP streams stretches out before me like the ocean, yet I can’t study for everything (can I?). I’m really looking for a role as an Infrastructure/IT Manager or Architect, working with a team of professionals to deliver IT services...

Steve Molkentin

Steve is a passionate IT professional who firmly believes that Information Technology is nothing without a grounding in excellent customer service.

As a career Microsoft IT professional, Steve has been involved in designing and delivering deployments of all key server and OS products into the enterprise since NT4 and Windows 98, and is seeking to grow his skill and certify as a Microsoft Certified IT Professional on Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 through the Career Factor program. He’s also looking forward to sharing his experiences through social media and in speaking engagements during and afterwards. A motivated and dynamic leader, Steve is excited about developing a skillset that will benefit a future employer and allow him to offer significant benefit through his knowledge of best practice and the application to the enterprise.

Living in Brisbane, Australia, Steve enjoys spending time with his family (gardening & watching movies & TV with his wife; reading books, playing Lego, & chasing his young son and daughter) and encouraging the IT community within Australia and New Zealand as a core team member of www.autechheads.com – the largest online user group of IT Pros in the region.

He enjoys playing guitar, Xbox/Kinect, reading & generally being a proud #geek evangelist. He often talks too much and enjoys television far too much.
