TechEd North America expectations

Looking forward to TechEd, anyone going to the event could have so plenty of expectations. For me, this is my first TechEd, or even technology event that I've participated in, so some of my expectations are set high and some not. Hear me out:

People

I finally get to meet the cast of Career Factor! This will be so exciting! After working next to these eight roles for the entire show, I will finally get the chance to meet them face to face. We're traveling from all over the world, and I think Microsoft did a good job in selecting 8 very different candidates.

At TechEd, I will also get to meet others like myself that are ultimately wanting knowledge in technology and jobs in the future. I expect to connect with these people on a relationship level, have coffee - chat a while - and just bounce ideas and see what other stories people have from all over the world!

I know I'm younger than many of the other professionals I will be meeting but I see this as a chance to broaden my horizons quickly!

Companies that I want to connect with include: At&t, Intel, Dell, Citrix, and many others that are smaller companies.

Technology

At TechEd, I'll be able to drown myself in technology. The geek in me is so excited! The booths and shows at the event in Atlanta will have new companies and older ones, I wonder what companies be interested in graduates. I'm not expecting them to come to me, but I will most definitely work hard to just learn, listen, and absorb what they have to say. There are so many developments in cloud computing, virtualization, and who knows what is next. Microsoft has hundreds of certifications available and many of them aren't for me. Many certifications could be just right, I need to experiment, and find out which ones I like. TechEd could be just that!

I expect this event to be HUGE! Just check out the site: http://www.microsoft.com/events/techednorthamerica/

One more week of finals - work hard - then graduate and we will all be off to Tech Ed!!!

  • If you're not attending in person, you can follow their trip online as these IT professionals, developers and students experience the conference together.

  • X factor was a great experience and time in my life and career but is now part of my past

  • "You know, the first time in Orlando was a shocking experience, it was my first conference in the U.S., and I was used to conferences with 1,000-2,000 people, attending an event with 11,000 attendees was really shocking to me. It was big! But one year later, in Atlanta, it was bigger (13,000 attendees)! The Visual Basic 10th Year Anniversary Party used a whole stadium and I never thought it would have been possible to put so many geeks in the same place.

Numbers aside, I think the value at TechEd is having all of the Microsoft technologies covered in a single event. I've attended many sessions over the years of technologies that I was curious about but that wouldn't have justified a dedicated training or conference. Only at TechEd you can get the big picture and at the same time you can go deep on every single product if you need it.

I also have a good memory of the first session I delivered as a speaker at TechEd,and this year,I'm really excited to present a pre-conference seminar about Analysis Services. I know TechEd attendees have high expectations (I always had) and I'll work hard with Alberto Ferrari preparing the seminar we'll deliver together."
