Extra, Extra Read All About It!

Greetings Career Factor Followers,

Well it has been a busy and exciting week! Not only have there been huge updates in the news about what is going on in the world, but I have also finished all my exams and begun my Practicum Program at SAIT Corporate Communications.

To start us off I would like to update those of you who may not know, but Canada just went through a federal election to decide on the next Prime Minister. It ended up being a very surprising and close race but in the end the majority vote went to the Conservatives.

In US news, Bin Laden has been killed. Now I could never even imagine the heartache that the American people must have gone through after 9/11. This death may not bring comfort to the families who may have felt the terror of 9/11 first hand. All I can say is that it is a relief to know that there is one less atrocious criminal in this world.

On a lighter note, I have started my practicum position within the SAIT Campus, in the department of Corporate Communications. I have started working closely with David Crosson, an event manager within this department. He has been keeping me busy, utilizing my Microsoft office skills to better manage and create more efficiency with event planning guide documents. I have also been working closely with an event SAIT will be holding for all staff within the campus titled Celebrate SAIT Day. I have been doing the promotional work for all the workshops available to staff on Celebrate SAIT Day. The best part of the job for me at the moment is the atmosphere of the department. So far I have met and become close with around 13 people within the department, and they have made me feel so welcome and comfortable.

That is about all that is new with me, other than Out Door Horse Show season is upon us, as the first competition begins today (Thursday May 5). Although I will be working this week I will be out on the weekend to see Quincy and hopefully get some video footage for you! I am getting incredibly excited for our Career Factor Atlanta trip as I have received my Agenda and it looks like it will be amazing!

Hope you all have a great weekend, I know I will!

Cheers,

Caroline S. Weilinger
