Mastering the Aspirations

The 2011 TechEd North America starts today. All Career Factor participants have been flown in from our home countries in four continents to have a get together here in Atlanta. My travel from London took a fair 15 hours, but flights were on time and I got bumped up on the cross-Atlantic flight, so absolutely no complaints. However, arriving here after 25 hours without sleep meant that I was less than sharp on the transfer from the airport and I allowed the taxi driver to assure me that I had the name of the hotel wrong. Naturally, they couldn't find my booking at the hotel he dropped me off, but a very helpful lady decided that I was trustworthy and kindly put my booking against other Microsoft reservations (MS must have folk staying in just about every hotel in Atlanta). But, since other Career Factor participants couldn't be found in the bar of that hotel's lobby as was agreed, I realised something was amiss. A couple of phone calls later and I returned the key to what could have been a free extra room on MS account and made my way three blocks further down the street to the correct hotel. Night 1: success.
A fellow participant Simon had a great idea and organised for us to go the baseball game of the home team, Atlanta Braves against Philadelphia Phillies at the Turner Field. I've never been to a baseball game before and the experience was truly fantastic. The impression was aided by the fact that this weekend is all about commemorating Civil Rights leaders, so we got to see Rev. Jesse Jackson, Carlos Santana and Morgan Freeman, as well as the iconic presentation of the colours and the rendition of the Star-spangled Banner. You can see a few pictures on my Facebook page or by clicking on the picture on the right.
After the game and a quick freshening up, it was time to meet up with a few of my fellow MCM R8 participants. It's been three months since we all left Redmond and it was great to catch up with everyone over a fantastic steak in downtown Atlanta.
As I type this, I am running late to get to TechEd and meet up with the rest of the MCM guys. My schedule has four sessions abreast for the whole week, so it will be a buys few days ahead. But, it's very likely to be a lot of fun, too. We have parties, dinners and happy hours to look forward to. I'll try to keep these pages as updated as I can.
Until later...
The Career Factor crew has gathered in Atlanta, Georgia and they're already having a great time!
good wishes
It could be about curriculum, administration or professional development. In addition to the actual conference or event, it is probable that follow-up documentation will be produced. This may lead to increased understanding of a particular area or to systemic change.
The first two pages list conferences and related events at state/territory, national and international level. Inclusions in this section are listed first under months of the year, then in date order, with each annotation finishing with the relevant dates/venue.
