Hi Everybody,

Busy week of announcements from Microsoft this week, and here is a comilation of the

And to drag us back on topic - are the server 2012/win8 exams going to only be beta'd at TechEd? No way I can get to it this year due to client commitments :(

Well I can't vouch for everyone, but yes I passed 246 with "honest studying" (well, that and ten years experience going back through SMS/MOM/SCCM//SCOM/etc...). Alongside all the other prereq's over the past few years (including the MCITP:EA years ago, exempting from the MCSA:2008 requirement)

MS virtual academy and the partner site both have some good resources, and the product betas etc have been available for a good while too. There's no reason to suspect foul play purely based on 'how quickly gained after exam launch', and no reason for anyone to wait for exam launch to begin preparing.

If I'm honest I can't imagine any 'braindumpers' would get any content so quickly after launch?

You got those certs already done? With honest studying? I doubt. Yesterday when i searched general information i bumped to the forum where ppl. were discussing about (and swapping) braindumps for this new MCSA certs... :(

I would assume that when it is retired it would say retired, but I can't imagine that it would say retired before it was retired.

"MCITP stays MCITP. If you've earned it, you keep it." Does this mean if we obtain an MCITP:EA is will just say retired on our transcript?

The MCSE on Server 2003 upgrade to MCITP: EA was also three exams. There was the "upgrade" exam that covered the AD, Applications Infrastructure, and Network exams, then there was a client exam (Vista or Win7), then there was the Pro exam for MCITP: EA.

I suppose if you only wanted a single exam they could do a single 300 question exam, but most people would probably prefer to break that up a bit.

I am disappointed that an MCITP:EA is required to take 3 exams to upgrade. Essentially, by holding an MCITP:EA, you get to skip two exams from the standard MCSE: Server Infrastructure path. That is not very motivating for me to upgrade my certificate to the new MCSE. I have upgraded my Windows 2000 MCSE two times (2003, 2008), but I don't think I will do it for 2012 if it requires three exams. That is a terrible upgrade path.

MCITP stays MCITP. If you've earned it, you keep it. The new MCSE and MCSA exams are for different technology.

BTW, what's this "MCSE: Server 2008 core" you speak of? This is the first I've heard of it.

Thanks for the 2 MCSE exams that match a little better of what the original MCSE was. So now the rest of us have something to target for :D

So we have the original MCSE, MCSE: Server 2008 core, MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure and MCSE: Server infrastructure.

That's pretty simple and consistent (not).
