As technology changes, we add new exams and revise or retire older exams. We have planned the exam retirement dates for the next 12 months and have listed them in a downloadable page below. Both the exams and dates that are planned for retirement are subject to change, so please check the exam retirement page regularly for the latest information. Please note that regional web pages can take four to six weeks to update with current exam retirement information.
Even if an exam that is part of a certification you earned is retired, your certification is still valid. When an exam you passed is retired, the exam record remains on your transcript.
If you’re working toward a certification that includes one of the exams listed for retirement, please be sure to take the exam prior to the retirement date. Allow time for a retake if necessary.
If you have any questions about exam retirement, please contact your regional service center.

Thanks for this information, Holly.
Anyway, I've noticed something strange: if I go to the Italian language exam retirement page (www.microsoft.com/.../retired-certification-exams.aspx) I see several discrepancies with the English language page that you've referenced in your post: which is the most reliable page (I presume the English one) that I can trust without any doubt?
@Luigi - The English pages are updated first. Regional web pages can take 4-6 weeks to reflect changes.
@Veronica - Here's an example of the strange discrepancies that I've found: the Italian language page states that the exam 70-668 (Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Administrator) will be retired on July 31, but the English language page does not mention that exam at all. A support person I've chatted with told me that the English language page is the most reliable page for getting informations about the exams.
@Luigi - Looks like that's an error on the Italian page. Sorry about the confusion. We'll have it corrected soon. In the mean time, please refer to the English pages for the most current info. Thanks for letting us know!
As an MCT we need to change our focus immediately. Thanks for the information.
MCT ! there is no need to change focus, but to enhanced from where we are coming from to the future. Upgrade is what we need. BE FOCUS, MOTIVATED and SCALABLE.
Thanks for the info.
Any news about the 70-646 exam? .. I want to take this exam in order to earn the MCSA: Server 2008 (i've already taken 640 and 642) then take the upgrade exam 70-417 but i need first to check if the 646 is still available.
Ahmed, it looks like the 70-646 is still available as I do not see it on the retired exam site and it is still listed on the MCSA site. www.microsoft.com/.../mcsa-windows-server-2008-certification.aspx
Thanks John for your reply.
Yes, i've already checked the exam's status in the MCSA certification section in MS website. I just want to double check with people in the community as well. Unfortunately, i heared from some folks that this exam is retired in Jan 2014 and MS still not updated the info yet. After your reply, it was obviously a rumor.
The exam retirement page still has discrepancies,
For SharePoint 70-667 and 70-668 it's not only the Italian language page that is different, it's for every other languages/locations than US-English that I checked so far.
I have called Microsoft Learning support, and after checking with his supervisor, the person told me that exams 70-667 and 70-668 are indeed going to expire, but only in Canada.
So, is the US English page really having the most current info?
Yes, the US English page has the most current information. What the support person said about 667 and 668 retiring, but only in Canada, is incorrect. We expect the regional web pages to be updated within the next week or so.
MCITP exams 640,642,646,647,643 is not going to expire Please confirm there is so much confusion that these exams are going to expire.
Hi @sam26sun, we have not announced retirement dates for 640, 642, 646, 647, 643. Thanks!!
