With the launch of the new project-based exam experience for MOS 2013, candidates need to complete a short project during the allotted exam time. During development of the MOS 2013 Expert certification exams, it became clear the objectives would require more time than provided in the standard 50 minute testing period to complete. Further, during exam design phase, it became clear two different types of projects would be needed in Word or Excel to cover objectives in a realistic setting.
Considering all of these factors, we are here to announce the MOS 2013 Word and Excel Expert certifications will require passing two exams. Word Expert certification requires passing exams 77-425 and 77-426, while Excel Expert certification requires passing exams 77-427 and 77-428. These part one and two exams are 50 minutes in length each, and are both required to achieve the Expert certification. Details about each of these exams can be found on the MOS Expert overview page.
Couple of questions, because the respective websites aren't clear.
1) Prior to obtaining either the MOS 2013 Word or Excel Expert certs, does one have to complete Exam 77-418: Word 2013 Exam or 77-420: Excel 2013?
2) To obtain the MOS Master cert, its website states ony 425 & 427 are required. Is that a typo?
Thanks in advance!
Tim - thanks for your questions! 1) No you do not need to take the specialist level exams in order to obtain an Expert cert. If you feel confident in your Word or Excel skills, you can jump right into the Expert exams. 2) Thank you for catching this error on the website. I will ask our web team to correct it right away. For the MOS Master certification, you need exams 425, 426, 427, and 428, plus 422 and an elective exam of your choice. Best of luck to you!
way to go...
Do you have scheduled release dates for the new exams?
Also, can you tell us when each of the existing (older) exams is being retired so we can plan?
Any idea what the correct exam number is for the SharePoint 2013 MOS exam? Looks like it was 77-425, but now it is showing up under 77-419. Thanks for any clarification!
Mike - the Expert 2013 exams all successfully released on September 3rd and are now available for you. At this time we have just retired the MOS 2003 certification exams, and expect MOS 2007 and MOS 2010 to stay in market for a while longer yet, meaning at least 1-2 more years.
David - with the decision to release 2 exams mapped to an Expert 2013 certification, we had to reshuffle our exam numbers in order to keep the Expert part 1 and 2 exams in sequential order. With that, we moved the SharePoint 2013 exam number from 425 to 419. My apologies for the confusion on this change!
Does that mean we have to pay for these extra exams?
I have already achieved the MOS Word Expert certification, so can I just take the Excel Expert exam only?
Just taken the Word 2013 Part 1 expert exam - OH BOY! - This is a whole level harder than the 2007 and 2010 Expert exams. AND I have to do another one too (when I pass it - Failed today... but at least I know the level its aiming at!)
I passed the 2 Word Expert Exams, Failed at the Word Expert part 1 at the first time ...
The problem is with the Excel Expert exams, i tried both levels 2 times and failed.
in part 2 i got (100, 100, 75 ,,, and 25 in advanced formula) the functions was if roundup and countifs, it's so easy but i can't figure out where the problem is. same with part 1, it's easy but i can't know where the problem is.
can you tell me why the exam outlook 2013 (77-423) also have the time, but 50 minutes?
For 46 questions, 50 minutes is very short not ??
