Appreciate your educator or your MCT!

In the US, this week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I only found out at 9.15PM last night but as I am fortunate to live in a 24 hour economy, I quickly went to get some flowers for my kids' teachers. It was late and I was tired, but I did not even think twice about it. Teachers change lives; teachers really make a difference in peoples' lives. Young students may be inspired by their teacher; often a teacher will help students discover their unique talents. Teachers are role models, they set the standards for all of us during our years in school. Professionals need training too and we sometimes rediscover who we want to be - or who we can be. All thanks to great teachers and great trainers. No matter when you celebrate Teacher Appreciation day in your country, any day is a good day to say 'thank you' to the educators that teach our kids or the trainers that teach us.

Do this if you have a moment: close your eyes and look back in time. Ask yourself: Which teacher had the most impact on my life?

For me, it was professor Fontein, a great teacher and ex banana salesman that taught me unforgettable lessons (see this post for his fantastic 'banana story'). Who influenced you most? Share your stories here on Born to Learn, we'd love to hear from you!

And, if you are in school this week or if you are taking professional training, take a minute to say 'thank you' to your educator or MCT. Trust me, a simple 'thank you' really matters to teachers and trainers.

Educators, MCTs, teachers, students, everyone: have a great teacher appreciation day!

  • Great post, Tjeerd!  And I'd say there's no better way to appreciate your MCT right now than to help sponsor MCT Day Zero at www.mctdayzero.com!    (I couldn't help but notice that you're not yet registered to attend, Tjeerd. Are you coming?)

  • Thanks Bob, it's from the heart and you deserve some additional gratitude for running a great community event at TechEd! I'll be at the Worldwide Partner Conference but will not be able to attend Day Zero. Feel free to share the agenda for the event here on Born to Learn!
