How do you want to use the Microsoft Certification Planner tool?

We're planning updates to various tools, systems, and sites to serve you better. One tool we're looking at is the Microsoft Certification Planner tool, where you can track your progress toward achieving a specific certification. Synchronized with your personal transcript, Certification Planner helps you evaluate your options and select the shortest path to achieving your next certification.

If you've used the Microsoft Certification Planner tool, we would love to hear your feedback on it. We invite you to take a two-minute survey to help us better understand your needs. This survey will close on March 19th.

Click here to take the survey now.

  • I typed a whole bunch of stuff in the survey, do you want some of the suggestions amplified here?

  • MS need to remove old tracks à retired tracks (Who's car about pass Windows 2000 tracks? lol )

  • Hello Tangurena,

Thank you for completing the survey. As long as you also tell us your feedback in the survey, commenting on your suggestions here is totally fine--might drive some interesting discussions (and help us get more people interested in filling out the survey!)

  • I posted some suggestions here a while ago: borntolearn.mslearn.net/.../21641.aspx

I'll also go fill out the survey now, thanks.

  • As others have mentioned, some way to remove unwanted tracks from the tool would be nice. Perhaps like the scheme in Windows Update (for XP) to mark some options as "don't show this to me again" (with some reset option like the "show me options I've hidden" link). I've passed a bunch of exams over the past 13 years [1], so there is a lot of cruft that shows up when I try to use it. Some of the ones that show up include MSCE+Internet, which has so many retired exams that it cannot be completed, while others are in paths I am very unlikely to pursue [2].

The way that requirements and electives are shown is somewhat confusing. While that can be a result of the various permutations allowable for certain certifications, the pile of treeviews can be mind numbingly overwhelming.

    Notes:

1 - like exam 058, which showed up in the MCSE tracks for Win2k and earlier,

2 - The Dynamics arena is something I'm not likely to pursue, especially when the training material can't be purchased for love or money. Just try to see what the eLearning for MB2-631 costs; you aren't permitted to see the cost, nor purchase it.

  • nice survey, the Certification Planner needs an update, since now it delivers poorly structured informations

  • I would like to track my progress toward a job role, instead of tracking my performance towards a certification.

Maybe that could be the big change, especially when the job roles are not  "Microsoft Only".

  • Hi Krista,

I have sent you an email in 2010 (christmas time) in this special case. I hope all the retired exams and certpaths will be kicked out of the cert-planner. and in the view there will be the shortest and best exam track mentioned.

and perhaps it will be possible to use the certification planner with other browsers, too. I think about the subcategories within a certpath.

perhaps contact me again by email I will send you a few screenshots about my ideas.

    best

    matthias.
