Encouraging Others to Get Certified? Join MCP Rewards!

10:42am April 22 Update:

The server is stable now from what we see. You should be able to register, log in and use the site without any issue. (no 404 anymore).   If there are hundreds of people hitting "submit" for registration at the exact same second, you may see a longer wait (as it calls the server for validation).

Our deepest apologies for having this issue when you are enthusiastic to participate.  We are only 1/3 filled up now, so I think we would be able to accomodate all of you.

PS: If you are an MCP but receive a message "You are not authorized", please email your MCP ID to lrfeedb@microsoft.com

We have been playing with this idea for a while... as there are many MCPs who are already talking with their friends and colleagues about certifications, answering questions in the community, etc, we want to create a program that allows the passionate MCPs (yes, you!) to earn rewards by encouraging others to earn Microsoft Certifications.  And now, we are excited to announce that the MCP Learning Rewards program is open for registration at 8:00am PDT on April 21!

As an MCP, you can request Microsoft Certification exam vouchers (Second Shot vouchers till June 30) and distribute them to your friends, colleagues and contacts.  When people redeem your vouchers, you receive points that you can accumulate and redeem for personal rewards, like a free certification exam voucher for your personal use, or a subscription to the E-Reference Library. In addition, you will find a variety of information to help you and your friends plan your career with Microsoft training and certification. Smile

There is no cost to participate in the program, of course.  We want to see how things go and what you think of it.  So at this time the MCP Rewards program will be restricted to the first 10,000 MCPs who register. So... act fast when it opens for registration!

Here are some tips on how it works:

1. Register on the Learning Rewards program website using your MCP ID - you will see different choices from the drop down list when you click "Register", just select "MCP".

Learning Rewards Landing Page

2. You will receive an email with your password - sometimes it may go to your junk folder - look out for that!

3. Explore the site - your Dashboard shows how many points you have, and contains your action items at one place

4. Request and send Second Shot vouchers! - your requested vouchers are stored in the "Voucher Bank"; you can also see instructions on request and send vouchers.

You can email the vouchers, or print and hand them to your friends. The vouchers are in PDF format.  There are instruction on the voucher about how to register for the exam.

When a voucher is redeemed, you can see your points updated on your Dashboards (updated weekly).

 5. And... customize a Certification Path with your name and email, so your friends know who to ask if they have questions since you are the expert!

It's pretty straightforward process.  Just explore the website and play with it - let us know what you think! We have already put some thoughts on how to improve the experience, but if you have any ideas, shoot us an email at lrfeedb@microsoft.com (on or after April 21).

You know the mail shot for this made us sound like we were being rewarded for having taken over three exams in the last 5 years, and that we were getting to test this out first. Clearly that is not the case as any MCP can join!

Why bother with the first line of the email making us feel special then?

(not that i'm not excited about this!)

Cool! Finally we can receive rewards again by passing for MCP Exams!

There is no option for MCP in the pulldown list to register.  Only MCT, Prometric TCA Contest, and UGSS User Group Leader.

Hmm...I have to agree with MCP on this. (it is still Cool!), but WHY sending out the e-mail and a few hours later putting the whole 'procedure' online..? The website will be overloaded again......

    Mike,

You can't sign up until Wednesday, that's why MCP isn't listed.

And I agree with everyone else, it's silly to send out an email about this being an invitation to a special pilot program and then basically open it up to anyone who happens across the web site.

So much for a special pilot.. Are checking MCP IDs first too see if they were part of that mailing list??

I agree with MCP as well.

hi guys, the reason we sent out an email ahead of time is to accomodate the different time zones, so that folks from different areas can be aware of this and have a fair chance to join if they decide to as we have a limit on the number.  Didn't mean to make you wait... :-)

Some of you received the emails because you hold many certifications - we want to give you an early notice - we do have a very large MCP base and can't accomodate everyone.  But our Born To Learn readers are also on top of our minds, that's why we also post it here.  Hope this makes sense...

To add to Joanne's comment, the percentage of MCPs that we can include in MCP Rewards is pretty small, so we've got a list of priority audiences.

First and foremost were our most active customers--those of you who have taken many exams over the past few years were part of this first group and received the e-mail invite.

Since we still had space available, we moved on to our next highest priority audience: Born to Learn readers.  We figure if you guys are kind enough to read our thoughts and share yours with us, we'd like to extend the opportunity to you as well. :-)

Seems you always have same answers for every complains from community. You have failed as usual, you don't feel responsible. So typical. If you send personalized and exclusive information you can not make this information available for everyone. It is not longer personalized and exclusive. So what was your point here? I see total lack of logics in you explanation.

You should have wait till launching time, give us some time and wait till exclusive chosen MCP have no interest in it or till there is no more free vouchers. Then you could make this info public. It is similar thing to BETA exams invitation.

You have said "we still had space available" - does it mean there are less than 10K MCP that have passed more than 3 exams in last months? I doubt it - I guess thanks to your stupid policy and lack of competency in every MSL activity there is less people interested in MCP exams, but I hope you numbers are not as bad yet.

Looks you have failed but again you act like kids not responsible company.

    Thanks Joanne and Ken.

Iololo, that's a bit harsh.  Disappointment isn't the same thing as abject, total failure.  They explained their logic, and it makes sense.  It also means that their web site is going to get pounded into oblivion at 8am PST, but such is life.

@Ken I understand that you had space available, but wouldn't it be better (towards us, the ones received the e-mail) to wait until 8am today? So we had enough time to register for the MCP Rewards Program. Now I'm sure many of the ones received the e-mail are going to be TOO late. Maybe next time?

I think, we should be thankfull that MS does stuff like that BUT I have the same opinion about the "exclusive invitation"...

i wonder if the server hold 10000 guys trying to register at the same time, well as they┬┤re hosted in europe and not @prometric there might be chances for us in EU ;-)

@KloinerFeigling83 Don't understand me wrong. I really appreciate the the stuff MS does, but something exclusive should stay that way untill the registration date is passed ;)
