Exam 70-693 is now available in Prometric testing centers! This is a Professional exam designed to validate a candidate’s knowledge of Microsoft virtualization technologies.
Candidates should have one to three years of experience using Microsoft virtualization products, including Hyper-V, System Center Virtual Machine Manager, and Remote Desktop Services (RDS), in a Windows Server 2008 R2 infrastructure. Candidates for this exam are IT professionals who have jobs in which managing or deploying virtualization technologies is their main area of responsibility.
This exam covers the following topics:

For all you virtualization junkies, here’s that long-awaited information about the road to the new MCITP: Virtualization Administrator certification. Three exams will be required in order to earn the MCITP: Virtualization Administrator--one Technical Specialist exam for desktop virtualization; one Technical Specialist exam for server virtualization, and one Pro exam. You may choose either exam 70-652 or 70-659 to fulfill the server virtualization requirement.

If you took the beta exam, you’ve probably been wondering where in tarnation your results are. You may have noticed that we’ve been cranking through the new exams lately in support of all kinds of new Microsoft technologies. Frankly, it just took us longer than usual to get this one published because of the volume of other exam development projects. Prometric should be starting to send out beta results shortly. Let us know if you don’t start seeing ‘em in the next week or two.
Glad to hear that the 70-652 is still valid, which was much easier ;-)
What about eLearning courses for the new Exams, are they beeing prepared?
Regards Patrick
Thanks for the update, Krista.
Also, if the suspense is killing you then you can log into the Prometric web site and click on "Candidate History" on the left-hand side. It will list all of the exams that you have taken via Prometric and their status (Passed, Tested, Failed). "Tested" means that it hasn't been scored yet, but my 71-693 switched to the "Passed" status a couple of days ago.
Now I just have to wait out the 71-669 results. That was a surprisingly difficult exam, probably one of the hardest that I have ever taken.
Congratulations!
> 70-652: TS: Windows Server Virtualization, Configuring OR 70-659: TS: Windows Server 2008 R2, Server Virtualization
Can you please comment on how or why are the (MCITP) Virtualization Administrator and (Partner) Virtualization Competency not in sync:
(Partner competency) Server Virtualization (requirements
Exam 70-403 TS: Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Configuring
Exam 70-652 TS: Windows Server Virtualization, Configuring
Would it not make sense to replace the 70-652 with 70-659? Or even better, align the Virtualization Competency requirements with Virtualization Administrator requirements? If something like that is about to happen (in the next month/during the year), it would be great to know this ASAP as many of us need to choose one of those during the next weeks or so..
Right now it seems that I would have to take both. 70-659 (hopefully finish VA with it) to stay current with the Server 2008 R2 and additionally 70-659+70-403 to address both objectives. With the new title/exams it would seems that partner competency requirements are lagging behind and need to be updated soon anyway..
It would be great if you could forward this to the right source/people (if needed) or point me to the right direction so that I could ask directly.
Thanks in advance!
No mail yet, but passed so I'm happy! :-) Just have to wait for the desktop virtualization results now.
I don't think that's the only place the partner competency does not align 100% with the certification track. Look at the EDPS requirements for another example.
It seems on the surface that it would make sense if they align, but in reality it's two different groups with two different goals. There just happens to be some overlap in requirements.
@ Patrick: I'm checking with other folks in microsoft Learning and will get back to you.
@ Alan: Much as OtherKevin said, the partner group decides if/when/how to align to the new certs. I don't know the partner folks personally, but I can probably find someone who knows somebody. Will let you know what I find out.
Will the certification planner on the MCP site be updated soon? At the moment it is showing the requirements as 659, 669 and 693, with no option to use 652 instead?
I also passed 652 and it seems that it no added to the Virtualization Administrator title.
There are some problems with Prometric and 71-693 Exam. After few months of waiting status changed from 'tested' to 'no show' (!?). Prometric support also haven't gave any response (I'm waiting more than two weeks by now). And few of my friends has the same strange behaviour.
@ Krista: Thanks, got roughly the same response from the source so I took 70-403 & 70-652 to finish up MCITP:VA
@ dix: Although all results are available (MCP site), one of the (in total, 3) required exams isn't officially available www.microsoft.com/.../exam.aspx -- Published: April 29, 2010(In development). So it kind of makes sense that we need to wait a little more ;)
Recieved my MCITP:VA Cert 2 days ago - well, it took 2 days after I'd finished 659 st the kast exam... BUT, I had no idea why my 652, thah was passed ages ago didn't work)))
So, the tittle on cert is "MCITP:Virtualization Administrator 2008", but in the transcript it is so: "Virtualization Administrator 2008 R2" - strange guys...
P.S> Well, anothe TS is completed too, that's for better.
Hmm,
it's about time now..) All required exams are live for over a week, however no MCITP:VA credential on my transcript and no response regarding this from emeamcp yet...
More info:
borntolearn.mslearn.net/.../now-available-70-669-ts-windows-server-2008-r2-desktop-virtualization.aspx
Is the MCTIP:VA certification now fully available (and if not, when will it be)?
Thanks.
I've passed three exams 70-669, 70-652 and 70-693
All exams appeared in my transcript, but NO MCITP credential. I've checked
certification planner and there's NO 70-652 exam in MCITP: VA requirements,
only 70-659.
VERY SAD!
I'm conducting big local event about virtualization and need this status.
I wonder if there is any official update related to this topic, since I also have the three certifications -669, 70-652 and 70-693 but still not MCITP credential.... following this post we should have.... not sure if we should waiting, or this requirement will change...
Why isnt the MCITP : VA on the MS learning site yet?? I am one exam off getting this cert but my manager has no idea even what it is?!?!
