Question #2:  You are the administrator of your company s network. The research department of your company is analyzing the research results from international sources to compile an informational newsletter for potential customers.

A user named Maria runs the English (US) version of Windows 2000 Professional on her portable computer. Maria needs to be able to use several different languages to compile the results into one concise document.

Maria reports that when she is connected to the network, she cannot add different languages to her computer. However, when she is not connected to the network, she can add different languages. She wants to be able to add languages to her portable computer while connected to the network.

  • Q1: C. the minimum disk space is 650mb from win2000.
Q2: D. the domain GPO is blocking the user from having multiple language packs.
Q3: E. the logon domain is required to send credentials over dialup for that domain.
  • Q1: C minimum disk space is 650mb
Q2: C user configuration GPO contains this setting
Q3: B and D for correct authentication need to be send securely the Windows logon name and password
  • Hm as I see I late with my anwsers :(
  • I am glad you agree with me though!
  • Q1: C minimum disk space is 650mb
Q2: C user configuration GPO contains this setting
Q3: B and D for correct authentication need to be send securely the Windows logon name and password
  • I was in the standards setting meeting for that exam, and got to work with the pool of questions, so it probably disqualifies me anyway :)
  • 1. C. As per (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304297) "A 2 GB hard disk that has 650 MB of free space. If you are installing over a network, more free hard disk space is required."
    2. D. Just in case it's a computer configuration..!
    3. B and D:
  • Q1 c & B.
Not that I took this one but to the best of my memory you couldn't upgrade from 3.11 to 2000. according to this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/232039 you can from NT 3.51 but 3.11 isn't mentioned.
(Also from a test taking POV the fact that the question asks to check all that apply it hints that you need to check at least 2 answers)

    Q2 C. as explained above.

    Q3 B&D as explained above
  • No winner yet?
  • No winner yet! So, keep trying. Hint: there are two answers to question 1.
  • Q1: C. The minimum FREE disk space is 650MB (as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304297)
Q2: C. This is being blocked by a domain GPO under "User ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesControl PanelRegional Options" (as per http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms81168...)
Q3. D & E. In order to use domain credentials, you have to check "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)" under the Security tab. (See http://www.liv.ac.uk/csd/dialup/win2000.htm). Also, under the Options tab, you have to check the box for "Include the Windows logon domain". B.t.w. I don't think B is correct, because you can also just click Settings, next to "Advanced (custom settings), on the Security tab, and then choose the authentication protocols you want, including unencrypted PAP, so requiring secured password is NOT a requirement for question 3. It also does NOT mention any security requirements.
  • Revision:
Q1: C & B. The minimum FREE disk space is 650MB (as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304297). Also, you can't upgrade WFW 3.11 to Windows 2000, but maybe if you go to Windows NT 3.1 first you could (or upgrade a second time from Windows NT 3.1 to NT 3.51 or NT 4.0 first, and then to Windows 2000).
I don't think B is correct, because you can also just click Settings, next to "Advanced (custom settings), on the Security tab, and then choose the authentication protocols you want, including unencrypted PAP, so requiring secured password is NOT a requirement for question 3. It also does NOT mention any security requirements.
  • Q1: B. & C. the minimum free disk space is 650mb for win2000, and you cannot upgrade from WFW3.1.
Q2: C. the domain GPO is blocking the user from having multiple language packs under 'User Configuration'.
Q3: B. & D. You need to set the security properties of the dialup connection to use the logon name and password, but need to change to 'Require Secured Password' to enable the option.
  • Still no winner...The first 3 guesses (novoticuts, bobsys, and sayanda) were the closest. Take a look at their responses and my hint. This should point you in the right direction.
