Communications: A Two-Way Street

Hi everyone! I just recently joined the community team to manage newsletters and subscribed communications. I m getting up to speed on the MCP and MCT Flash newsletters, the Learning Solutions (CPLS) newsletter, and the IT Academy newsletter. But it doesn t stop there.

My goal this year is to develop more flexibility and choice for you in the communications we produce - and I d like your help. One of the ideas is to determine a good mix of traditional newsletters along with social media to exchange ideas and information.

So, let me know what you think:
* which newsletter(s) do you receive?
* do you like the amount of information in each? too long/short/just right?
* what kind of information is most valuable to you in a newsletter vs. blog?
* do you like a monthly newsletter? would you like to be able to get certain information more frequently?
* share any other questions or concerns you have about our current newsletter communications.

While I can t guarantee we can act on every one of your suggestions, I want to focus on developing communications that reflect the needs of our community, and look forward to hearing from you.

I like newsletter and blog both, because I like to receive relevant newsletter which help me with my Blog posting. I receive newsletter from MCP Flash, MS Learning, MS Press and Partner specific etc. There are many individuals like me who likes to receive as many relevant newsletters as possible and quickly glimpse through it and post it in his/her blog only if it’s relevant to their audiences. What I like to have one newsletter only focuses on Microsoft Exam, Certification, MS Press, Training Kit, Beta Exams or any exam/certification relevant information. Portion of MCP Flash newsletter covers it but I am afraid it’s not good enough.

MCP FLASH (sic!) announced important information about discontinuing benefits 11 (iirc) before deadline. A frustration for me regarding the newsletters is that the links never work! I m using vanilla Outlook 2007 and the links always open up the Subscriptions page of the Profile Center, and not the information I want. I get the MCP/MCT/Partners mailshots. I wish they were more geographically specific - events are generally US based, not much seems to be going on here in the UK. I agree with the previous comments about the links - I have the same problem. The timing of the newsletters is often a bit off - example is this weeks MOC pilot invite, which I received yesterday and which starts tomorrow?? More stuff for MCT IW specialists please, and also for registered partners looking to progress to CPLS - I m not getting any support on either of these topics at the moment - or at least don t know where to get it from.

Paul & Sheena - Thank you for the feedback on the link. I m looking into it because the URL you provided is different than the one that was tested & published in the newsletter (following): (http://co1piltwb.partners.extranet.microsoft.com/mcoeredir/mcoeredirect.aspx?linkId=12348121&s1=6e7b8fa2-f483-a73a-f730-2469a55b4ddc). I ll keep researching to find out where the break is and how we can fix it for future issues. Do your link problems seem to be associated with a particular site or are ALL links in the emails broken? The more info I can get to research the issue, the better. Thank you for your feedback!

The newsletter arrives in my Lotus Notes inbox in a very odd format. There is a very skinny cell at the top of the table, the graphics don t load and the "In This Issue" links don t work. Open it up in Lotus Notes and have a look.

Hi !! I love the MCP flash!! But in recent months, it looks like all the goodies (software to try, few free e-learning modules are disappearing..) it is looking more and more like a cisco "pay for anything from us" newsletter. More local events are needed, I am in Africa (Ivory Coast) and believe me we are also interested in all the new technologies!! Have a great day!! lots of love from the Ivory Coast!!!

Sorry but i was very disappointed Microsoft stoped the second shot. I have 2 more exams to do for my MCSE and i m still waiting for new pariod of second shot.

When will microsoft stop implementing features, most of which don't work and start fixing what they have? Your products are slow and full of bugs. I use visual studio 2008, and there is no way to buy a computer that will run this software fast enough. It is bloted, slow, error proned and buggy. I live 8 to 20 hours a day with this product and for all it's great features, it is a terriable implementation. Please do something for us poor souls who really use your products. We are are waking up every day hating our jobs because microsoft can not implements quality products for us to work with.

I would like to see more special offers about microsoft programs.
For example that a person gets MCSA that he or she gets as a reward a compleet program(not e trail version but a real version like Office or windows 7, trail versions a found everywhere on the internet.
