While we were traveling across the US on the "Get on the Bus" tour, I made a habit of asking people what technologies are hot right now. Across the board, the most common response I got was SharePoint Server and Dynamics CRM. According to trainers, CPLS managers, consultants and ITPros across America, the demand for these products is high and rising.

For those with an eye to the future, they re bulding skills on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. People I met said these products together make a great upgrade argument and would come right at the time businesses will be ready to start investing in IT again.

What are you hearing? What are you seeing? I ll send a free Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0 eBook to the first 10 people who share what s hot in their market and tell us where they re building their skills for the future.

  • Hi, I am trying to get my heels dug in to WSS/MOSS and Exchange certs. With the forthcomming Office 2010 release slated to be big on the messagining and web-based tools, and the drastic rush of industry to absorb SharePoint, it is critical to acheive the base certifications in the current products, so I am ready for a smoother upgrade path... Thanks, Lewis
  • What s Hot? For me as an MCT is SharePoint Server 2007 and SQL Server 2008.
  • I m working through upgrading my 2003 based MCSE to the new MCITP (also recently sat the Windows 7 beta exam). Hope to have it done by mid-year. At the moment, a lot of work is being done trying to extend/expand Sharepoint s reach by integrating with other apps, etc.
  • Here in the Army, we are working on getting Vista on the desktop (yes, we are behind the times), but we are working on training up on Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2.
  • Hi, I´m from Colombia... Here, we are working on Virtualization, W2008 R2 and Vista... We are late on these technologies, but I follow several MS Blogs to stay updated. Thanks for all this important information you bring to us.
  • Hi, I m based in Sydney Australia and we re seeing a big need to virtualisation, SQL 2008, Sharepoint and Windows 2008.
  • Sharepoint is defenitly a very hot rising star, SQL 2008 is also a big player. No one can run a datacenter now a days without talking about Virtualization and windows 2008 R2. I personally became certified on both MOSS and WSS this year due to projects that we embarked on at my company.
  • Sharepoint seems to be a winner... We used it in the office but I haven t played with it yet. However, there are more and more reasons to use it! Besides SP, POWERSHELL rocks! Most of what I do everyday, I do faster with powershell cmdlets. I can see how people s jaws drops when I cranked out a report or automate a task in a sec or two!
  • I will be concetrating on Visual Studiio 2008, SQl Server 2008 SSIS, SSAS and SSRS along with SharePoint. I do like powerShell And MVC too.
  • Hi, i am from pakistan, and here the most hot Technology is Dynamics GP and WSS
