If you are planning to be in LA for TechEd North America next week, I want to tell you about some things you should try to work into your busy schedule J

1.      Visit with folks from Microsoft Learning, including Matthew Roche, Ryan Danner, J Seymour, Dana Calleja, Regine Smith, Joanne Lin, in the Resources Zone. Be sure to pick up a Microsoft Learning mini-agenda.
(TIP:  Ryan, Joanne and Dana will have stories to tell from their
Get on the Bus tour)

2.      Try your hand at the live version of “Are You Certifiable” in the Resources Zone. Can you say “Fun, Fun, Fun”

3.      Check out Certification 101: Introduction to Microsoft Certification. David Elfassy will be presenting six (count ‘em, 6 !!!) sessions during the week. So you can definitely make one of these work for your schedule.

4.      Sit in on a certification coaching session. This is a great way to prepare for your next exam and learn tips & tricks from Microsoft Certified Trainers who specialize in those technology areas. Pick up a schedule in the Resources Zone or check CommNet.
(TIP:  register ahead for Career Assist and plan to use your TechEd discount exam voucher when you schedule your exam.)

5.      Spend some time with Ken Rosen when he talks about why ITP is the new MCSE. This session takes place on Monday at 4:30 in the Orange 2 Theatre

6.      If you’re a Microsoft Certified Professional, we’ve got new Microsoft Certified XXX hats for you. (check out last year’s hats). You’ll need to show your MCP card or a copy of your transcript to get your hands on one of these babies.

7.      If you’re a Microsoft Certified Trainer, Susan Ibach has pulled together a fabulous series of “On the Couch” chats in the MCT Community Lounge that will help you add new technologies to your teaching portfolio. Check the schedule in the Lounge.

8.      If you’re interested in becoming a technical author, you should attend Jeff Hora and Joanne Lin’s session How to Become a Community Author on Wednesday at 2:45pm in the Blue 2 Theatre

9.      If you manage a team of IT Professionals or Developers, Regine Smith wants to talk with you about how to leverage certification in your hiring process and as a tool to retain great talent. There are 2 lunchtime sessions and you must pre-register.

  • I have been struggling to get an MCT certification in Dynamics ever since NOVEMBER. I took a trainer course last September, and I thought I had the needed classes by November. It has been TOTAL TORTURE trying to figure out what was still needed. I m almost down to the wire now... last friday I learned that I needed to fax a copy of my certificate of completion of the trainer class to the MCT staff. (Never mind that MICROSOFT sent the certificate in the first place...sigh) The guy was on the phone, and I said I was faxing it right then. And I did. And I waited two days. Emailed them Tuesday. Got a message today saying they NEVER GOT THE FAX. UN-beliveable!! So I have now emailed a scan of it. We shall see.
