Buck Woody is all data, all the time. He’s a Senior Technical Specialist at Microsoft, an instructor at the University of Washington where he teaches about (you guessed it) databases, and he writes the Carpe Datum blog. Dude knows data.

He can now add ‘Judge’ to his already impressive CV. Every week, Buck will join Tim DiMarco and a weekly guest judge to put the contestants through their paces.

Wondering who the Man Behind the Data really is? The following should give you good insight into Buck ‘The Buckster’ Woody:

  • Certifications held: Too many to count. Almost everything from Microsoft, lots of things from Sun, Oracle and even Novell.
  • Years at Microsoft: Six. But years in the tech industry: Since before computers. We had to shout 0’s and 1’s at each other across the room. (I am very old, and I know all the secret things)
  • Little known fact: I drink a pot before 0730, and that’s a true story.
  • Favorite piece of Microsoft trivia: There is no building 7. Do not ask me how I know this.
  • What are you looking for in the next Microsoft employee? Someone who has a passion for data solving problems. Also, someone who likes long walks on the beach. Someone who isn’t afraid of a little competition, who can laugh at themselves, and help me laugh at others.

Buck will be blogging throughout the show, so be sure to check back often for the latest and greatest.

Catch the premiere on July 24, 2012!
