I’m Kristi Svor, one of the Project Managers (PjMs) on the certification development team. I live and work in Fargo, ND. However, all of my team members are in Redmond, WA. Thank goodness for webcams, so I can see my team regularly. For the past year, I have been working on exam development for Microsoft Dynamics exams. Some of my responsibilities include initial planning, scheduling, budgeting, kickoff meetings, technical reviews, and then I hand them off for publishing. This will be my first post and I am looking forward to hearing from the community. After reading this post, I hope that you’ll have a better understanding of the benefits for you in becoming certified in a Microsoft Dynamics product.

Most of you have probably heard of Microsoft Dynamics exams. If not, you probably have quite a few questions.

So let’s begin with a little Q&A:

1. What is Microsoft Dynamics? Microsoft Dynamics is a line of business management solutions that provide financial management, supply chain management and customer relationship management solutions. These scalable, adaptable and customizable solutions are designed to automate unique business processes and accelerate an organization’s success.

2. What are the product names? Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics – Point of Sale (POS), Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management (RMS) and Microsoft Dynamics SL. If you would like additional information on Microsoft Dynamics products.

3. Who are these products and services for? Microsoft Dynamics products include applications and services for retailers, manufacturers, wholesale distributors, and service companies that do business domestically or in multiple countries.

4. Why Microsoft Dynamics? Microsoft Dynamics products work like other Microsoft products you are familiar with, helping reduce time required to learn how to use them.

5. Why take a Microsoft Dynamics exam? If you are an MCT, you already know the interfaces – all the parts that integrate and the platform it runs on. It would be a natural extension to expand your training value to partners and end user customers. Furthermore, there is a need for MCT’s who train on Microsoft Dynamics and MCPs who are trained to use Microsoft Dynamics products.

6. Which exams would I need to take to become certified in a Microsoft Dynamics product? You will find the necessary exams needed in Microsoft Dynamics Competency Guide.

As you can see, I thought of a list of questions, but I am sure there are more questions you have about Microsoft Dynamics…Feel free to put your thoughts in the comments!

I look forward to your questions.

Is Microsoft Dynamics Certification is benificial for MBA in MIS Persons?
  • Kristi Svor
Yes, being certified in Microsoft Dynamics and having your MBA will differentiate yourself further. I completed my MBA four years ago. It was well worth it!

I am certified on Dynamics GP 10.0 (MCP) and am looking to further my certifications by becoming an MCT as well. Could you point me in the right direction for what I need to do next to accomplish this? I believe that I have to complete a train the trainer type course and do a presentation, but I cannot find any specifics as to where I can sign up and where the courses are offered and who offers them. Any information will be helpful.

    Thanks!

    Hi Jackie,
I recommend emailing mctdyn@microsoft.com and include your MCP ID explaining you want to become an MCT for Microsoft Dynamics GP. Also, ask for information on the Trainer Skills Class and your next steps.
